Hi, I am Ted McGrath. I am a professional woodworker for more than 35 years now, and as you can imagine, I have probably worked on hundreds and perhaps even thousands of projects in all these years. Honestly, I have lost count. 

What I have realized in all these years is that, to succeed in woodworking, the most important thing that you need is a plan. No, my friend, it is not experience, and no, it is not even knowledge. 

Everyone has to make a start somewhere. Yes, I have 35 years of experience and knowledge too, but think of those days, when I was just about starting off. I hardly had any knowledge and experience. I was an absolute greenhorn. But I still succeeded. Why? I can safely say today that  my success is a result of meticulous planning.

I realized that to succeed, I needed to know about the tools to use, understand how to use them, find out the correct measurements for each project before I started working, and if possible, see a few blueprints and illustrations. And I knew that there was no way I could fail if I had some direction on each step I had to take for each job. And you will find this at world of woodworkers.

Certain things never change in life. What I mean to say is that, the woodworkers of today are facing the same challenges that I faced back then. They still must know the same things if they are to succeed in their woodworking venture. 

And thus, I embarked on a new mission. I wanted to bring together my years of acquired of knowledge together at one place to help the aspiring woodworkers and the hobbyists of today. I wanted to create a collection of  great woodworking projects and plans that were easy to understand and follow. So easy that anyone can just read through and finish the job. No prior experience needed, no prior knowledge needed. 

I just kept working and kept collecting. And the result was outstanding. Frankly, I was myself surprised to find that I ended up documenting more than 16,000 woodworking project plans. Each project came with step-by-step guidelines. So all a woodworker must do is read through a step and do the work as described. Easy! Yes, it took me more than 2 years, but I would say that it was worth it.

But I didn’t stop there. I wanted to better my efforts. So I started again. This time it was probably more challenging. I created detailed material lists, illustrations and blueprints for each project, and even approached professional woodworkers for videos of the work they did – yes, I collected more than 150 videos. These videos, illustrations and blueprints will surely help them understand each process better I assumed. 

I was right. I am happy there has been such a great demand for these DIY woodworking project plans. My efforts have been widely appreciated as well. It has been covered by CNN, Yahoo, MSNBC, USA Today, Entrepreneur and others. 

But above everything, I am today happy that I have been able to help both the hobbyist and the professional woodworker. I can help you too.
